BACK TO LIFE BACK TO REALITY ETC

Wednesday 27 June 2007

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so I'm back here in grey, miserable, cold, surrounded by untropical waters England.

Nice.

For the last week and a half I have been in the most fantastic place I have ever been. I was staying in a 5* luxury resort which was so clean dinner could have been served on the floors, the people were so friendly and humerous and the weather was utterly glorious.

I treated my Mum to a weeks break in Egypt and myself really as I did not want to be in England around the 15th June however much to my surprise I felt fine. I have a tendency to dwell on things that have hurt me/made me sad and I'm usually not too great with bad anniversaries but I was absolutely fine. I did compare this trip to my holiday in Kenya a fair bit but is was positive comparing. For instance I felt a shed load more relaxed on this trip. I didn't feel like I needed to make my Mum adore where we were staying. I didn't feel pressured. I was so desperate for my ex to love Kenya as much as I did and when he didn't I was crestfallen. My Mum was instantly in love with the resort we stayed in as was I. My Mum was full of smiles and excitement on every outing we went on as was I. My Mum was still positive and ungrumpy when she got a 24 hour tummy bug and was only upset because we had to get room service and not go to one of the three on resort restaurants that night as she was exhausted.

Snorkelling in Egypt is breathtaking. I saw so many beautiful fish and corals and even saw dolphins! They are fantastic. I plan on returning to Egypt next year to complete my PADI. Riding camels in the Sahara desert was interesting. Especially as because I was the only blonde girl in the group the guide took a shine to me (as did the customs officer - got a discount on my visa and a kiss on the cheek, as did numerous shop owners and waiters - the most attention I get from guys here in the UK is beer poured down my back and clumsy gropes!) and decided to make the camel I was on gallop. I have never clung onto something between my legs so hard in my life. After a fun filled day in the desert it was topped by watching the sun sink behind the dunes.

I don't think I would like to go to Sharm el Sheikh as it's rather touristy. Hurghada is a new tourist destination as the diving and watersports are top notch and fat British yobs who insist on shout talking, not prounouncing words properly and refusing to learn anything about the country's culture or even trying something other than chips and burgers haven't arrived there yet. I'm sure it's a matter of a couple of years before they do as there is so much building work going on there.

I was so sad on Friday when we had to return home. I will of course be uploading photos when I get some time.

In other news I am still in love with my housemate who is totally gorgeous. We went out together on Saturday to an uber trendy bar in Shoreditch. It was his friend's 30th and there was a rather annoying photographer who kept taking pictures of us and asking us to act natural. Silly sod. Big old perv too. He seemed to like my photogenic chest!

Other than that life is still pretty damn great. With my next couple of weekends dedicated to friend's birthdays, one of which is a hog roast and I get to be reunited with Buddy Monster! I cannot wait to see that dog. It's been far too long. It's not the same talking to him on the phone.
